In Chicago’s historic Bronzeville community.

  • Legends South includes Mahalia Place, Hansberry Square, Savoy Square, Coleman Place, and Gwendolyn Place.
  • 1,800 units on-site and 600 units off-site for a total of 2,400 mixed income rental and affordable homeownership units.
  • 140-acre site was originally the Robert Taylor public housing project.
  • Original 1963 developments had 4,321 units in 28 sixteen-story concrete high-rise elevator buildings.

Innovations

  • Worked with grassroots stakeholders to develop plan with a holistic approach to meet community goals.
  • Pedestrian friendly streets and neighborhoods will be created through the re-integration of the historic street grid, development of open green space and the provisions for 1:1 parking.
