Emily Abeln

Senior Vice President of Development

“Brinshore is a community-centric developer. We produce thoughtfully designed housing assets that respond to the unique needs of each community in which we build.”

Experience

Prior to joining Brinshore, Emily worked for seventeen years in nonprofit management at New Hope Housing, Inc., Texas’ preeminent provider of supportive housing. Her time with New Hope Housing inspired her calling to serve her community.

She joined New Hope’s property management team where she developed her drive to provide safe, dignified, beautiful housing to homeless individuals. Additionally, she formed New Hope Housing’s Compliance department where she directed the company’s operating portfolio and maintained strong and positive relationships with compliance oversight entities.

Ultimately, Emily transitioned to Vice President of Real Estate Development & Corporate Secretary, a role she held until her departure from New Hope Housing Inc. She led all real estate activities on eight supportive housing communities. Her responsibilities included site selection and land acquisitions, underwriting, engagement with neighborhood and political stakeholders, securing public financing, facilitating funding and land closings, and directing project design from inception through permitting, construction, and placement in service.

Education

Emily holds a BFA in English and Communications from Texas State University.
