HODC and Brinshore Celebrate Grand Opening of Zion Woods Apartments in Deerfield on June 26 at 10:30 AM

DEERFIELD, IL — Housing Opportunity Development Corporation (HODC) and Brinshore Development, LLC are pleased to announce the grand opening of Zion Woods Apartments, a new affordable housing development in Deerfield, on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at10:30 a.m.

Zion Woods features 25 high-quality, environmentally friendly apartments that provide safe, stable, and affordable homes for individuals and families who live and work in the community. Located at 8 Deerfield Road in Deerfield, the development increases access to affordable housing in the North Shore, an area where such options are critically limited.

The project was made possible in large part thanks to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, which generously donated the land with a vision of using it to serve the broader community. The church’s commitment to housing equity and community stewardship played a vital role in making Zion Woods a reality.

HODC and Brinshore worked in close partnership throughout the development process, collaborating with the Village of Deerfield, the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA), the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago’s Affordable Housing Program (AHP), local advocates,

“Zion Woods is the result of years of perseverance, planning and partnership,” said David Brint Co-founding Principal of Brinshore Development. “Today, we’re not just delivering affordable housing but delivering on a promise made to this community, the congregation at Zion Lutheran Church and changing the lives of these residents for years to come.”

“This project has been many years in the making, and it’s incredibly moving to now see residents moving in and thriving,” said Richard Koenig, Executive Director of HODC. “Zion Woods stands as a powerful example of what is possible when communities come together to ensure everyone has a place to call home.”

The public is invited to attend the grand opening celebration, which will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, brief speaking program, light refreshments, and a tour of the property. Among the speakers will be Mayor of Deerfield Daniel C. Shapiro and Illinois State Senator Julie Morrison.
